TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYS
New Housing Development
Summary
Meridian was asked to quote for surveying a 30 acre site to support a planning application to build 300 houses. Two-thirds of the site was densely covered in brambles and the other third was heavily wooded. To make things even more interesting there was a 21 metre fall across the site. When the survey was delivered our customer wrote, "Peter and his team surveyed a very large piece of strategic land for us in Surrey. Not only were they the most competitive in the marketplace (by quite some way), their Survey was thorough, timely, professional and above all, accurate! ... The service and value for money has been second to none! ... A joy to work with."

National Trust Properties
Summary
Another 30 acre site Meridian surveyed was a National Trust property in West Sussex. This comprised rolling lawns, wooded glades, walled gardens, ancient ruins, nursery, a water harvesting plant, garden centre, workshop, offices, follies and grottoes. It was an extensive survey but not particularly demanding. The challenge was to survey appropriate detail to match the needs of the various stakeholders, as diverse as the head gardener planning new landscaping to the business manager building a new, eco-friendly biomass boiler.

Domestic Properties
Summary
This is a survey of a domestic property. The client wanted detail of the neighbouring house but this was obscured by a fence and dense foliage.
Brownfield site
Summary
The aerial photograph on the left is of an old coal yard. As the use of coal as a domestic fuel decline various other small businesses used the site, including a fleet of cesspit emptying tankers. The site was both an eyesore and an unpleasant neighbour for local residents.

Meridian Surveys carried out the initial site survey, helped resolve boundary disputes and carried out some of the setting-out.
Retail Areas
Summary
When a well-known brand of retail shops went into liquidation, Meridian Surveys won the contract to survey the sites in the southern part of the UK. The sites themselves were relatively simple but on some of the sites the brief included the surrounding areas, which turned out to be either densely wooded or overgrown,

Not withstanding this Meridian carried out the surveys efficiently, on time and within budget. The client was so pleased with the delivery we were asked to complete other surveys in the northern part of the UK started by other surveyors.
